O-YA's Summer Block Party is BACK and better than ever! Working in partnership with O-YA's Youth Advisory Committee, we've got LOTS of fun activities planned for all ages. Keep reading for details!
This year, O-YA's Summer Block Party has joined forces with Osgoode PorchFest (OPF) to create the OPF Block Party Edition! Combining these two amazing events is going to make for a truly spectacular day in Osgoode Village! The Henna Lady (Henna Tattoos): 10 am - 2 pm
The Henna Lady offers a complete henna service including: natural henna, beautiful design selections & glitters. The artist will be delighted to share information about henna, its care and use for guests.
Cost: $10 - $20 dependent on style choice

Sidewalk Art: 10 am - 2 pm * note there are limited squares and this is a first come first serve activity
Feeling creative? Grab some of O-YA's chalk (or bring your own) and a volunteer will show you which square on the sidewalk you get to decorate!

Shiraz Caricature Artist: 10 am - 2 pm
The Shiraz group of artists have an average of 15 years of experience in caricature drawing! Get a cartoon photo of yourself and friends or family drawn right before your eyes!

If you were at the 'Goode Run, you will know what this is all about! Two of our hockey loving Youth Advisory Committee teens will have the hockey net set up with targets to aim for. We've got fun prizes for those who hit all the targets!

Ally's Hair Braiding: 10 am - 2 pm

Kevin Smith Magic Strolling Magic Show: 11 am - 1 pm
FREE! Kevin Smith, who goes by the stage name “Mr. Smith,” is one of Ottawa’s most entertaining up and coming illusionists. His passion for magic shines through in every performance, as he dazzles the mind and has his audience roll with laughter throughout his shows. Little Ray's Reptiles: Show One: 11 am - 12 pm & Show Two: 12:30 pm - 1:30 pm
Join us inside O-YA at the Block Party for a 1 hour Little Ray's Reptiles Show (Both shows are the same. Just pick the time that works best for you!).
Little Ray's Nature Ninjas Explore some of the unique mechanisms of self-defenses that reptiles, amphibians, mammals and invertebrates have evolved. Why are ferrets so flexible? What do tarantulas protect themselves from predators? Find the answers to these questions and more in this exploration of amazing animal adaptations and instincts.
Cost: $5 per person (kids under 2 are free)

A fan favourite at O-YA's Summer Block Party is always our Baking Contest. Volunteer bakers (Could you be one of them? It's easy and free to sign up!) make a batch of baking following each year's theme. Then, all the baking is presented under our Contest Tent during the Block Party. Block Party participants and Guest Judges taste the baking and then winners are announced in 2 categories: Village Vote and Judge's Choice.
This year's Baking Contest theme is 'Under the Sea'! What does this mean? It's really up to you! Baking entries should reflect your vision of 'Under the Sea' (with ingredients, recipe name, taste, shape, decoration, display - the possibilities are endless). For all the details, and to sign up as a volunteer baker, please see below.

- Sign up on Eventbrite (link below)
- Bake something that falls under the general theme of 'Under the Sea'
- Bring your finished baking to O-YA on Saturday, June 11 no later than 10 am. Please display your baking on a tray for viewing / sampling. Please break or cut your baking into bite sized pieces for tasting.
- Create and bring a card with your baking name and description on a paper measuring 4" x 6" (be creative!)
