Mock Trial at O-YA
Did you know? Soloway Wright law firm is one of the 'Goode Run's Premiere sponsors. As part of their sponsorship, Soloway Wright has generously agreed to lend their time and legal expertise to O-YA and run a Mock Trial event for teens!
A Mock Trial is a competition in which students simulate a real trial. Soloway Wright's Mock Trial at O-YA will draw upon the story of Goldilocks and the 3 Bears to present hypothetical fact patterns. We will use some general rules of evidence and procedure, an explanation of basic facts, and brief statements for each witness.

Background:
We all know the story of Goldilocks and the Three Bears, but no one knows what happened next. Mama Bear, Papa Bear and Baby Bear are suing Goldilocks for trespass and damages for her display of Bad Manners - entering their home, eating their porridge, trying our their beds and breaking Baby Bear's chair. Goldilocks says that she doesn't have Bad Manners, she meant no harm and made a mistake.
Our Question:
Should Goldilocks be found liable for Bad Manners?
The Characters:
We will need a Goldilocks, witnesses for both parties, Judge(s), Jury, Lawyer(s) for the Three Bears, Lawyer(s) for Goldilocks, Mama Bear, Papa Bear and Baby Bear. We encourage you to get into character and have some fun!
The Process:
We will start with a Zoom meeting on Tuesday, October 10 to prepare and learn everyone's trial roles. Then, on Tuesday, October 17 we will host our in-person Mock Trial at O-YA! The entire process will be guided and informed by Soloway Wright lawyers. We expect the whole process to be really fun - and very informative!
