O-YA is excited to announce a community wide all ages program, Exploring the Capital Region!
Exploring the Capital Region is a series of bus trips leaving O-YA to go to larger free community events in Canada's Capital Region.
Who: Everyone!
Where: Departing from O-YA (5479 Osgoode Main St)
Cost: $10 per participant in Grades 7 - 12 (Includes O-YA Youth Worker supervision) *Summer Solstice Festival for grades 5 - 12
$10 per community member under Grade 7 or over Grade 12 (Please note, participants under Grade 7 requires their own adult supervision)
$20 family rate (up to 5 people)

Festival of the Dead
October 29, 2023; 10:00 am - 6:00 pm
Cost: $10 per participant in Grades 7 - 12 (Includes O-YA Youth Worker supervision)
Immerse yourself in Mexican culture in the midst of the historic ByWard Market neighbourhood as the community gathers to celebrate the lives of the deceased with food, drink, parties, festivals, and activities the dead enjoyed in their lifetime. With special programming including Mariachi performances, authentic Mexican cuisine, artisan market, folkloric dancers and much more, the Dead of the Dead Festival is an unforgettable experience.

Winter Lights Across Canada
Cost: $10 per participant in Grades 7 - 12 (Includes O-YA Youth Worker supervision)

Winter Lights Across Canada is set to brighten up your winter days.Let yourself be carried away by the magic of the multimedia projection show! You will be captivated by the musical score and digital imagery set against the Parliament as a backdrop. This free show is presented every 15 minutes, from Thursday to Monday, from 5:30 to 11 p.m. While you're there, take a selfie at the Illuminated area and share it with your friends and family on social media.
With hundreds of thousands of coloured lights, the Pathway of Lights shines on Confederation Boulevard, a ceremonial route through the heart of Canada's Capital Region. Follow the illuminated path between Ottawa and Gatineau and admire various sites and monuments such as Confederation Park, the Peacekeeping Monument and parc Portage.
Summer Solstice Festival
Saturday June 24, 2023; 9:30 am departure - 3:30 pm return
Cost: $10 per participant in Grades 5 - 12 (Includes O-YA Youth Worker supervision)
Ticket Sales End: June 23, 2023 @ 9 pm
Experience some of Canada’s best Indigenous talent through music, dance, workshops, food and more at this free, family-friendly event in Canada’s capital. The Ottawa Summer Solstice Indigenous Festival celebrates Indigenous peoples’ culture and heritage through a variety of programming such as creative workshops, education days, traditional knowledge, culinary experiences, a movie night, and the popular Competition Pow Wow featuring live music and dance performances. This festival is one of four seasonal events hosted by and held at Indigenous Experiences’ Mādahòkì Farm, a rural space within the greenbelt just south of downtown Ottawa.
Ottawa Capital Pride Parade
Sunday August 27, 2023; 12 pm departure - return 5:30 pm
Cost: $10 per participant in Grades 7 - 12 (Includes O-YA Youth Worker supervision)
$10 per community member under Grade 7 or over Grade 12 (Please note, participants under Grade 7 requires their own adult supervision)
$20 family rate (up to 5 people)
The bus will arrive at the Pride Family Zone (https://capitalpride.ca/events/family-pride-zone-2/). Grades 7 - 12 will explore the Pride Family Zone and at parade time move towards Kent St to get a view of the parade (https://capitalpride.ca/events/capital-pride-parade/) Once the parade has passed Grades 7 - 12 will head towards other festivities such as the the street festival (https://capitalpride.ca/events/capital-pride-street-festival-2/) or post parade party main stage (https://capitalpride.ca/events/post-parade-party-lets-get-proud/) Bus will pick up at 5:00 pm at Dundonald Park (where participants are originally dropped off) Those not in grades 7 - 12 who attend can venture wherever they want at pride but need to meet us back at the park for bus pick up!
