Leadership Camp for Teens at O-YA; Summer 2012

O-YA's Leadership Camp is happily full.

At O-YA's Summer 2012 Leadership Camp for Teens, participants will develop skills in leading others, grow in character and learn about the value in helping others and building others up. Topics include: Survival Skills, 'Peer Presenters' Anti-Bullying Mentorship Skills, Zip Lining @ Camp Fortune, problem solving skills and more.

Survival Skills Workshop
As part of O-YA's Teen Leadership Camp, career Law Enforcement Officer Cst. Ric McKerracher and career Law Enforcement Officer and Military Officer, Cst. Tim Broder will be presenting a Survival Skills Workshop called, 'Surviving The Everyday'. This Workshop will include fun and interactive information on:

1.      Surviving the Streets:
Practical lessons on being street-wise. We'll cover a myriad of situations where participants will learn how to recognize, avoid and protect against some of the dangers lurking on our streets.

 2.      Recreational Survival:
Young adults actively participate in recreational activities which expose them to a wide range of injuries and inherent dangers. We'll cover a variety of these activities, ranging from leisure activities through substance abuse. Participants will learn that it is their judgement which will most likely keep
them safe.

 3.      "Apocolyptic" Survival:
An introduction to emergency preparedness…surviving everything from being lost in the bush to surviving a natural disaster.  This is not a doom-sayers guide to surviving the end of the Mayan Calendar or surviving in a post-apocolyptic, zombie-ridden world, but will teach the participants that forethought and preparedness is essential and practical when disaster strikes.
